TEAM DIFFERENTLY

Team Differently | Visionary Organizing for Professional and Organizational Development is an introduction to the theory and practice of Visionary Organizing as it applies to organizations. Team Differently is an interactive training toward a more healthy team and work environment that teaches a team to equally emphasize material and non-material needs through systematic engagement with team members, their understanding of the organization’s purpose, and their purpose within the organization/team. This engagement is created through journaling, personal reflections, small and large group discussions, and relationship building.Teams will be able to assume shared responsibility for the well-being of the organization and personal accountability for their role(s) within the team, while developing a deeper sense of the org’s purpose and the value of their work.

    • Workplaces and organizations with defined roles and division of labor for whom conversations about oppression do not evoke existential crisis.

    • Skills to balance team member’s material and non-material needs

    • Provides sense of importance for individual team members

    • Mutual respect between team members

    • Ability to identify one’s own role in conflict

    • Shared understanding of org’s work and each person’s personal purpose within the organization

    • Shared understanding of individual contribution to the org’s work

    • Improved communication to resolve conflicts

    • Understanding of how and where individual team members and the organization have internalized oppressive values (take the next training for more on what to do with this)
